Meditating often on the cross of Christ, accepting that—as horrible as what my X chose to do to me was, an all powerful, all knowing, all loving God chose NOT to prevent it, (for some good reason I may never understand this side of heaven) it really was a case of “There but for the grace of God go I…” Asking Abba for the power to say, and really mean it, “Father– forgive US– – WE didn’t know what WE were doing….” helps as I continue to labor daily to forgive the humanly unforgivable….. the lies….the infidelity…. The betrayal, the slander…. The cruelties for no reason I could grasp…. because I do so very much wish to be a child of MY Father…….and obey His commandments.

I was especially struck by your words, "Father—forgive us..." That perspective can only be learned at the foot of the cross, where we are reminded that, apart from the grace of God, none of us stands on higher ground than anyone else.
And yet, as you said so honestly, there are wounds that feel humanly unforgivable. We don't deny them, excuse them, or pretend they don't hurt. We bring them to the Father again and again, asking for what we simply cannot produce on our own.
I believe that's one of the Spirit's quiet miracles: not that we suddenly stop feeling the pain, but that He keeps giving us the grace to loosen our grip on it and entrust both the wound and the one who caused it to God.
Thank you for reminding all of us that forgiveness is often a daily surrender, not a single decision. I'm praying that the Lord continues to give you strength for each day's portion of grace, and that, in His time, He brings the deeper healing that only He can accomplish.
"When we forgive, we are not pretending evil never happened. We are not calling darkness light. Nor are we saying that justice does not matter. Rather, we are surrendering our right to carry the grievance forever. We place the wound, the offender, and the outcome into God’s hands."
AMEN🤍 whew... the weight that is lifted when forgiveness is given released is so freeing!
